For your reference, I have combination skin (oily skin on my t-zone and normal on the other parts of my face). I used to think I have oily skin so I used products specifically for that type of skin. But I noticed that some parts of my face started having dry patches which meant the products I used were too harsh for those parts so I recently started using products for combination skin. The dry patches have disappeared and I learned that you should really assess your skin type first and then from there, try to figure out what your skin really needs. For my oily t-zone, I've been trying a bunch of products to get it to calm down on the oil production. One of the products I've been using is the Etude Wonder Pore Freshner:
This toner promises a lot, I have to say. It's supposedly a 7-in-1 product and it lists down what it's supposed to do on the third photo. Honestly though, I bought it because I wanted to see if it can do two things: control oil and minimize my pores. If it was able to do all seven, then that's just an added bonus. This product is also available in a bigger bottle that comes with a pump. Since this is my first time to use skincare from Etude, I bought the smaller bottle first. I don't know if you can see it but I'm halfway through the bottle as I use this twice a day (after cleansing in the morning and at night). I also use this on my husband who has oily skin.
I think the best pair for this product is a round cotton pad. I use the Watsons Round puffs which is perfect to cover my entire face. This product doesn't sting when I apply it on my face so it's really very gentle. The instructions even suggest to transfer this to a misting bottle and apply in on the face when needed (ala Evian). I haven't tried that because I think using this day and night is enough. After using this for a couple of months, I did notice that my skin isn't as oily as it used to be. I don't know if it's just this product or a combination of the effects of my cleanser and moisturiser, but I'm sure this products helps in controlling oil. My skintone is also a lot more even. The redness around my nose and forehead is reduced too. As for my pores, I don't think they're any smaller so it didn't deliver in that department. I am currently trying out a new toner but I will definitely repurchase this when it runs out.
Overall, I really like this product and would recommend it for those with oily skin and uneven skintone. If you haven't tried any toners before, this is also very gentle and would be a good product to try to introduce your skin to the world of toners.
